Red leaves brighter than the car lights beside them…

A nice day! We went for a walk, even though today is the first full day of the Wrath of the Lich King launch. I try to pretend like I’m not an unemployed leech!

I took the stroller and Robin and I, er, strolled around the neighborhood. I went further one way than ever before and ended up near our greenbelt. So I squeeezed the stroller through the narrow opening and we went home that way.

It is a unique and special feeling to be walking along the greenbelt and see somebody coming the other way with a dog offleash, and a stray dog chasing and barking at the other dog and peer and say, when the lady warns you and your baby of the stray dog, “I think that’s my dog.“

“Oh,” she said. “Long hair, black? A beautiful dog!”

I said, “Uh-huh.”

I pushed the stroller down the green belt. I made out a black face with a striped white chest peering at me through the tall grass. He was frozen. I called out. No response.  I got closer. It was definitely him.

Then, suddenly, he started barking frantically and double-timed it back through the open gate and to our back door, where he stood outside barking himself hoarse trying to warn those inside (which was, uh, Hannah) of the mad stroller monster approaching. I squeezed the stroller through the gate (which doesn’t open very far righ now) and wedged the gate shut and went around the corner. Dante cowered at the far end of the yard until, all of a sudden, his ears perked up. “Oh, it’s you!” he seemed to say. “Did you see that stroller monster? Let’s go inside!”
