People are different.
Some of those differences come from their background. Their personal history, and their family history, and their cultural history, and their national history.
Similar experiences can create similar points of view. Seems reasonable. Different experiences can create different points of view, different priorities. You can’t always share their point of view, their priorities, but you can know a little about their background. And it helps, it really helps. It doesn’t make it any easier to deal with having those different points of view forced on you, but it makes it a little easier to look for common ground.
